Description
Oyster farming or “fishing” on the Chesapeake Bay is steeped in history. A visit to the Annapolis Maritime Museum should be on your bucket list. While there you will see ” wax figures” and hear the recorded audio for the sounds of the sailing Skipjacks crew as they wage war against the angry waters of the bay. This image is a depiction of a story I was told about the off shore sale of oysters to beat the taxes levied when brought to shore. The two boats, a Bay Boat, the smaller, and the Buy Boat have met under the moonlight to exchange the cargo collected on the Bay Boat The large hose is actually used to vacuum the oysters into the hold.
