Description
Back in the days of prohibition, the Rum Runners in their wooden speed boats would evade detection as they move the liquid contraband across the St. Lawrence River. Smugglers Cove is one of those dark coves where they could navigate under the cloak of darkness. The cove is a few hundred yards west of the Canadian Span of the Thousand Islands Bridge just around the edge of the Ivy Lea Campground. To take a boat though there at night one can sense what it must have been like trying to go undetected behind the dark pined islands. The Hacker Craft in this painting is typical of the wooden runabouts that would have been used for the daring night time escapades. The original to this print is shown in the gallery for 1000 Islands.
