Description
Known as The Flats, this part of the Ausable River in the NYS Adirondacks is a bending where the water slows. The river bed is very flat thus not much in the way of currents exist. Its followed by Monument Falls, another image on this site. I wanted to capture the warm colors of the fall in this piece. Working loosely and allowing colors to mingle, the central theme of the work comes through where the figure is waiting for the fish to strike. I have been here before and the solitude one must feel standing out in the waters has to be very calming yet anxious.
